Joint Project between Bridges Arts, Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group and students from the London Nautical School
The group improvised around the following key questions in a scene where the family finally remove all Gregor’s human items from the room and lock the beetle in the room for the last time.
The groups took three different roles, altering the perspective as a result (notably, different characters chose different items to remove and responded differently to them)

In great pain, the Beetle hears from the other room the sound of his sister on the violin. This triggers some trace of emotional memory from the distant past.

The Family in Reverie:
After the loss of the income provided by Gregor, the family must take on some lodgers, placing further pressure on their effort to conceal their shameful secret.
In their fear and shame, the family pretend Gregor has died in order to conceal their fearful truth.
In exploring the story of Kafka’s Metamorphosis, the performers explore depictions of confinement.
